Joanne Kim, Chief of Staff
Joanne Kim has worked at City Hall since 2015 after helping Councilmember Harris-Dawson win election to the City Council. She has worked in South Los Angeles in many capacities for most of her adult life, and lives there with her husband and two children.
As a former executive at the Community Coalition, a South Los Angeles non-profit organization, Kim also brings a wealth of expertise in community organizing. Most recently, she took a leave from her role at CD8 to serve as the Organizing Director for Karen Bass’ historic mayoral campaign.
Kim earned a Bachelor’s degree in economics and a Master’s degree in public health at UCLA. She also holds a Certificate in Executive Non-Profit Leadership from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Kim served on the boards of UCLA UniCamp and the Asian Pacific Environmental Network, a statewide organization.
