MANCHESTER BEAUTIFUL

The vision for South Los Angeles is to build beautiful, safe, and thriving neighborhoods that provide existing residents with quality housing, good jobs, vibrant economic corridors, accessible transportation systems, and a community where residents can reach their highest potential. Manchester Boulevard is a key corridor to begin building toward our vision. Manchester is a regional gateway in the County of Los Angeles and provides access to amenities and neighborhoods across the region. Presently, Manchester is blighted and in disrepair due to decades of disinvestment.

To position Manchester for investment, Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson is launching Manchester Beautiful, a streetscape design effort, to transform Manchester into the thriving transit-oriented community that residents deserve. The project boundaries are Manchester Boulevard from Vermont Ave to Broadway. In particular, we will focus on the Manchester Silver Line Station area, including the freeway underpass.

Community Driven Design
Over the next few months, Council District 8 will facilitate a community-driven process to create design options for Manchester Boulevard. The collective design will be submitted for grant funding to leverage City
funds for implementation.

If you walk, drive, shop, live and/or access services along Manchester Avenue, you can contribute a unique and essential perspective to create a design that serves all users. You are the experts and we need your input to make this a successful project!
